BILL VOSS- While I may be over-reacting a bit, I don't find humor in the 'almost dead comment'.
Back to POSTUM, that was an officially approved beverage substitute for coffee for LDS people in my youthful days.

And yeah I recall the radio shows...and the announcer at the Railroad Station calling for 'Anaheim, Azusa, and Cuc--a--monga ! Knowing L A geography made accepting that announcement less than 'real' !! AND Dragnet with Ben Alexander playing Friday's Partner Officer Frank Smith. Alexander owned one of the S F Valley's largest Ford dealerships while he was a radio/TV 'star' in the Dragnet Series.

We had a small electric percolator and a big chrome urn coffee maker when I was growing up. Many years ago I bought a campfire percolator for my camping trips and nothing smells better than the aroma of fresh coffee, wood smoke, bacon, and trout frying in the bacon grease first thing in the morning. I have a friend who gets up with the roosters, goes and catches a stringer of trout and comesback and gets breakfast going before I wake up. He's my favorite friend! And I make sure he goes on as many of my camping trips as possible.
I crawl outta bed, get my shoes on, and stumble out to the campfire and pour myself a big metal cup of coffee and kick the fire a while until he has breafast cooked. I'm not at my best in the morning and he is. I always cook dinner for us to make up for being such a lazy ass in the morning.

Al, actor Leon Ames (Meet Me in St Louis, Father of the Bride, etc.) owned Ames Ford. I believe it was in Studio City.

I grew up in Barrington, Il, home of the Jewel Tea Company. Several times a week they would roast coffee beans. The aroma would waft across the whole town. When I was in high school, the smell would come in the windows of the orchestra room and drive us all crazy! I think we all started to drink coffee at an earlier age than most!!

I don't know if everyone knows this but "the lighter the bean, the more caffeine" The longer the bean roasts with give it a darker, richer flavor, but actually less caffeine............Another bit of information, they don't use the best quality beans for flavored bean blends. When they size the beans, the best quality same size beans get go to the cream of the crop. The off size beans go for other blends. ..............pnwc

Yep, the aroma of frying bacon is magnificent. Of course if you then have to eat the stuff, well ,,, ,

Carney's dogs are purchased inside of a railroad car.  I think that coffee could be involved.

I looked at Carney's menu. I guess you can't get a hot dog with just mustard, relish and sauerkraut.

Anybody ever had Mellow Joy out of Lafayette, LA???  I get the medium roast and it sure makes my morning smell good.  I have enjoyed it for years and I have sent it to several of my Roadfood friends.

my wife LOVES the smell if coffee in the container when she sets up the coffee maker but WILL NOT drink it

My wife likes the smell of beer but does't drink it, leaving that job to me! God, I love that woman!

A man is sitting watching TV drinking beer, his wife is there, suddenly he blurts out"I love You", his wife says is that you or the beer talking, he says that's me talking to the beer!
