Looking for a good hamburger place in Chattanooga, TN. I am aware of Zarzour's but doubt I'll make it during their business hours.

Foodbme, I don't know about "expert", but I try to keep up with things around here. By the way, Zarzour’s has longer hours now and is open 11-3:30 M-F. Off course, that's still not a huge window of opportunity. Merv’s 713 Mountain Creek Road Chattanooga, TN 37405-1630 423-877-0221 Kevin Brown’s Burgers 8228 Mahan Gap Rd Ooltewah, TN 37363-5729 423-344-8344

Nikki's really looks interesting! It's on my Urbanspoon wishlist, as the cool kids say.

I particularly recommend going to Nikki's for the fried chicken, fried shrimp, and world-class onion rings.

Thanks for the suggestions. I may be there for two nights so maybe Merv's or Kevin Brown's for a burger and Nikki's for some fried chicken.

I forgot to ask if you'd prefer upscale burgers.

I see. If you plan on being in town several days, I'll check with our food editor to see if she may have any addtional suggestions. Most other places I'd mention have Zarzour-style hours.

I just heard about the hottest new burger joing to hit Chattanooga. Southern Burger Company. A mobile truck that moves around town and changes locations and apparently generating a lot of local interest. Found on Twitter & facebook for locations, etc. Sounds like a neat idea.

Carlton Pierre, I caught up with them downtown a couple of weeks ago. The burgers are extremely good, but I took points off for the not-so-soft sourdough roll they're served on. Maybe it's just me, but I prefer a softer bun. However, I can say this. The overall burger was so good that I'm sure I'll go back again. Also, they're normally open from 11:30 to 2:30 so, like Zarzour's, I figured Drpep would find it tough to get there during serving hours. If you're ever in town, though, I definitely recommend them. You may well disagree with me on the bun. http://www.facebook.com/SouthernBurgerCo http://twitter.com/#!/SBurgerCo

Hey MR, I hadn't heard any comments on the buns, justthatthe hamburgs were excellent. Their blog site mentions catering, as well as late night hours and a dinner hour menu. I'm anxious to check it out. My daughter who lives in Chattanooga tells me they have several new restaurants. What a neat city!

Yes, you're right, since my last post, I read they started experimenting with late hours yesterday, and I hope it works for them. I definitely want them to succeed. The more choices we have, the better. (And we still have no German restaurant.)

MR, I don't know?...... Would German really go over in 'Nooga? If you're ever in Knoxville we have an outstanding German place, the chef/owner is German and food is outstanding. The Linderhof.

I'll be in 'Nooga for dinner Sept 16th. I'm interested in the suggestions, but our arrival will be after 4pm for sure. Casual a must, as we'll be on motorcycles. Thanks.

Yes, I believe a German restaurant would do well, particularly since VW is here now.

It is a great craft, but not such an artistic storytelling job. But anyhow, when you accept the symphony job, you have to provide the (good solid) sound thats needed in the context of the big hall, no artistic excuses possible. The jazz artists focusses on storytelling and let the amps do the sound production job. Or am I missing your point Sonic Soldier is really a nice way to describe it .

My daughter went to the hamburger truck yesterday and reported it to me as excellent. She also said there is a new sandwich truck in town but did not have enough time to elaborate.

Famous Nater's is the other food truck. I've tried to catch both, but Nater's especially has had mechanical problems. I expect they'll both be back out, maybe by tomorrow. By the way, there have been some great Living Social Deals associated with places to eat in Chatt.
