Where I've found gizzards, so far...

In my book, the best gizzards are breaded lighty and pressure fried. The precooked then fried are too soft. I like a little crunch left in mine. Currently in St Louis, and the best ones I've had were at Porter's Chicken on Big Bend Rd. They have regular and spicy. I like the regular better. I've had them at Lee's, which are also in town, and they are of the softer variety. I do check every time I go into a Safeway at the deli counter. Sometimes they have them, and am sure they will cook up a batch while you shop. They are on the soft side. There are/were gizzards to be found at the north end of Long Beach WA at Doc's in Ocean Park. The best "Award Winning" gizzards I have had can be found at the Seabreeze Tavern just outside of Seaside, OR. Located a few blocks from Hwy 101 and Hwy 26 towards Seaside. Large portion. Cold beer. Perfect. I make them at home when I need a fix. Flour breaded with the normal spices. Fried golden brown with oil. Nothing fancy but fills the bill.

Welcome! I love those fried nuggets of rubber. Used to get a bucket (read: small box) of them at Pioneer Chicken in different locations throughout the Los Angeles area. Pioneer Chicken is virtually gone so I haven't had them in many years.

Based on GCG's website I suspect it's hot sauce or G-sauce. Brad

Next time we go to Dinah's, you should check out their gizzard and liver meals Mar. Dine in or take out.

When I fry chicken, I also fry gizzards. It is hard to find just gizzards, what I can find is gizzards & hearts. I save the hearts for the cats. I would love to find just gizzards in Indianapolis. The only places in IN, I have found good fried gizzards are a service stations, one in Madison, IN & one between Bedford & Mitchell In on SR 37. They fry frozen gizzards, but I ask them to fry mine fresh, not as good as fresh gizzards, but still good.

1bbqboy, it is only fair to link to my review as well as use the photo:-) http://www.kansastravel.o.../olathegochickengo.htm The G suace really makes the gizzard work. The gizzards at Go Chicken Go are good for fast food, but for better gizzards in the KC metro area, I recomend Stroud's - cover them with gravy and add a little Louisiana Hot Sauce. I also like Gomer's Fried Chicken in Kansas CIty, Missouri, but usually get the hearts there.
