Great stuff Paul! Thanks for the link. If you asked me to name a restaurant which best represents what Roadfood is all about, Doe's very well might be my pick. Here is the official Roadfood review.

Thanks for the link. Interesting. I love Does. Great roadfood restaurant and outstanding steaks. While the neighborhood is sketchy I have always felt extremely safe going there. For those of you interested in blues music Greenville has a great history.

Their steaks are great but I would rather go to Bern Steakhouse or to Peter Luger for a quality steak. The ambiance and service is far better. Does is great to experience once or twice and is a real Roadfood destination but for dining dollars.............I much prefer the two I have mentioned.

Everyone needs to experience Doe's in Greenville a couple of times, But the Paducah, KY store, and according to TTM, the Little Rock, Arkansas store, maintain the quality of the Beef and Tamales, while improving the surroundings a bit. Speaking for the Paducah, KY store... It is operated my "Doe Junior" the son of the Greenville Owner, and is located "On The Square" in Paducah, a rather well-restored historic area. We love the place and go pretty far out of our way to enjoy dinner there when we can.

While obviously the ambiance at Does is very different than Berns or Peter Luger or Gene and Georgettis or most any other upscale steak house I have always had wonderful service at Does.

It is hard to believe that this place is home to one of America's great steaks. But it's true!

I would rather visit Doe's than Peter lugars. While I am sure their steaks are good-look at what Doe's serves.Beautiful. We have a place in Milwaukee called the 5 O'Clock club-its in a bad neigborhood, but they have a security guard and they serve the best steaks anywhere. Everyone I have taken there wants to return.

mayor al ...the Paducah, KY store, and...the Little Rock, Arkansas store, maintain the quality of the Beef and Tamales, while improving the surroundings a bit. Improve the surroundings?!? Why on Earth would I want the surroundings improved? Walking through that battered and beaten, incredibly historic kitchen, sitting in the shabby dining room and eating one of the best steaks of your life are exactly what makes Doe's what it is. Improve the surroundings? Why don't we move Arthur Bryant's Barbecue a few miles west to Overland Park to improve the surroundings. Okay, not the best example since AB's quality seems to fluctuate wildly of late, but you understand the comparison. Buddy

I have been to Doe's in Greenville and although the place is terrific, the neighborhood is definately not. I observed numerous drug use around the establishment. I was there as a consultant for a pharmaceutical company looking for a location and it was my job to survey the neighborhoods. The site I selected was not selected because of observations. It was about two miles from Doe's. Don't get me wrong. The food was outstanding and I definately would not have ate there unless they had parking supervision. Never ever put yourself in jeporady over the temptation of very good food. For me, personal safety is paramount no matter where I go. Paul E. Smith Knoxville, TN

When in Little Rock on business the locals tried to steer me away from Doe's in their city because of "neighborhood" concerns. It was fine and the food was outstanding.

Tony- When I first went to the Little Rock Doe's in 2001, the neighborhood was definitely questionable. I ate quickly to make sure I was out before night came. When I went back in 2008, it seemed noticeably better and I had no concerns.

Didn't I see a picture of Doe's with a security guard wearing a six-shooter in front of the place? That would enough security for me

Joe- Yeah, I've seen that myself. And usually, you never have to park more than a 1/2 block away. BTW, beautiful looking steak there WJ!

forbethel- I have been to Little Rock twice, the now closed Starkville, MS location and the family run Paducah restaurant. The atmosphere is not the same, but the quality of the food remained high. Especially in Little Rock.

Calton, Sorry for the delay. I would call ahead to check on the need for reservations. I don't think they would be necessary, but it wouldn't hurt to check availability anyway. Paducah Does- 1-270-443-9006 Jan and My dinners, we shared the shrimp and Rib Steak. TTM Ate well also, but he was distracted a bit.

I was at the Doe's in Greenville about four years ago, but got there way too early (9:00 in the morning). All they could do was make a tamale for me. So I ate at the Doe's in Oxford. The next year, I believe, the Doe's in Paducah, KY materialized, and I've been there a few times. In two months, I'll be doing research in the Arkansas state archives in Little Rock for a week. Guess where I'll be eating downtown for about five nights straight?
