New Dollar Tree Bargains

Not sure if this qualifies as news, but was in the local Dollar Tree over the weekend and noticed several new food items on the shelves. Dollar Tree sometimes buys overstocks so no guarantee how long these might be available or even if they'll be at your local store. The best of the bunch: Extra spicy Que flavoring with a solid home style crunch. 5 oz / 1$. Hard to beat it. Other pretty good deals: and They had several versions of the Koops. I bought the Horseradish version, which has a nice bite to it. The Sweet Potato Chips are not a GREAT bargain at 1$ / 2.75 oz, but if you like 'em it is about the same price as when larger bags of the Kettle or Utz version go on sale. Nothing special about the Heinz mustard, except it's the 17.5 oz size for a buck. There is an old thread about READ potato salad in the RF Misc forum here: Enjoy! ed

That Koop's mustard looks a lot like Creole mustard, great on a grilled ham and Swiss sandwich. There's a local restaurant that makes a dish with Creole mustard, shrimp, mushrooms and andouille sausage over pasta with some type of white sauce, or cream base. I bet Koop's would be good with that, I did try to duplicate the dish, but used a little too much mustard. I get maple cream sandwich cookies at Dollar Tree. So far, they are always on the shelf when I go there.

Ours has the Koops all the time, and there's just something odd about it I can't like. I can't put my finger on it, but I've tried every variety they've had and it's just odd. Dollar Tree is pretty much the only place I buy snacky food like chips any more, though. Also pasta (it's usually 2/$1). Darn it. Now I want to go see what ours has this week.

BelleReve .... I get maple cream sandwich cookies at Dollar Tree. So far, they are always on the shelf when I go there. They are there about 75% of the time for me. I see the same cookies in a box (not the plastic tray like at Dollar Tree) and less ounces at Trader Joe's for $2.99. Love the leaf shaped cookies! Also bought the Heinz mustard.

I tried the potato salad yesterday. Not my cup of tea. Others on this board seemed to like it. Your mileage may vary. ed

I like the potato salad, but don't eat it that often. I have a German restaurant down the street that makes it homemade if I ever have a real hankering for it.

We just had a Dollar Tree open in town. My kids and I have had great fun scouting out all kinds of food products not usually available to us. Their favorite, though is the boxes of movie candy for only a dollar!
