What do I have to do to be able to post a link that stays? It shows up in the preview but not the post. Go to Seriouseats.com and search Alton Brown He looks like a bum in that picture. Always liked the way he brought the science to food prep.

This is sad for me. In my opinion, "Good Eats" is the greatest cooking show ever. Every single episode had something to learn, as well as carefully researched and tested recipies. Every single recipe of his that I have used had been spectacular. The highlights for me: Buttermilk Fried Chicken Standing Rib Roast Mac and Cheese Baby Back Ribs in the oven Brined Roast Turkey

I just discovered this series earlier this year when I found some Good Eats specials at my library (I don't have cable). I checked them all out in rapid succession. Very funny and informative. I wonder what he's going to do next.

Boo-hoo! Alton Brown is my "dream date" (the person who I'd most like to sit across a table from and share a meal). When the Food Network first began, I loved it! Over the past few years I've been increasingly disappointed in its transition from a "how-to", "why", and "what is it" channel into competition programs (which I despise). So sad.

With "Good Eats" gone, the Food Network continues the flight of the KIWI Bird. The KIWI Bird flies in ever decreasing circles until it flies up its own rear end! How many Freakin' Cupcake shows can you put on the head of a pin?

KurtSara I thought I read that Good Eats was done a month ago, was I dreaming? Well, the date on the link above is 5/12, so very possibly. I did a search for alton and did not see it posted here, but then I don't really trust the search function much. It ain't no google. Whatever he does I hope it is in his tongue-in-cheek persona rather than the serious hard ass he portrays when hosting iron chef or whichever competition it is that he hosts. I saw him direct the promos section on the first episode of Food Network Star and he was leaning more towards the hard ass. I agree that they are beating the competition format to death. I'm sure it is based on short term ratings. My guess is that each new one they introduce gets a decent hit which then quickly fades. They end up cannibalizing the audience from the others when they bring out the next one. ed

MiamiDon Alton Brown + Good Eats = Roadfood? Yep! Many of his recipes and show themes would be considered Roadfood. PLUS many of the "Tips & Tricks" he gave us are very applicable to us Roadfooders who like to cook, either Amateur's or Pro's. His Motorcycle tour hit all kinds of RF places.

I have years of the Good Eats shows on DVD. I cannot remember a single episode mentioning any Roadfood.com or Roadfood the book restaurant. It's a cooking show.

The only competition show I like is Iron Chef America, probably because AB is on it. I also can't stand the other reality type shows on there, just as I can't stand non-cooking ones on other channels. The original Iron Chef is good for a giggle though also. Fukui-san! Fukui-san!

I think he's referring to Alton's two series of Feasting on Asphalt where he took motorcycle tours of Roadfood type places. One I know was along the Mississippi River. Both where done outside of Good Eats.
