Good Excuse for a Road Trip to the Cincinnati Area in August Tue, 06/28/11 1:36 AM (permalink)
If you are looking for a good excuse for a road trip to the Cincinnati area in August, here is a perfect one.  About 10 miles southeast of Cincinnati on US 52, the town of New Richmond is holding their annual RiverDays festival the weekend of August 19 thru 21, with the highlight of the festival, the 19th Annual Cardboard Boat Regatta on Saturday the 20th.  They have a Cardboard Boat Museum there, and even give lessons on building cardboard boats (out of only cardboard, duct tape & paint).  Last year's race included 50 "boats" manned by people aged from 8 to 72 years old, and 23 trophies were awarded including the Titanic Award "for the most dramatic sinking".
