We use our grill year round, unless there is two feet of snow.  We had that this past winter.  My wife will ONLY allow Hummel hot dogs in our house.

    My variation is to cut in coins, place coins on a piece of bread that has a slice of cheese on it, then broil. My nieces and nephews love it and still ask for it even if though they are all now in their 20's..

    That sounds super!  I'm way past my 20s and I'm certain I'll enjoy it.  Thank you for the idea.

      Jewish Style -
      Lightly toasted GOOD Bagel
      Hebrew National split lengthwise and cut in half, pan fried
      Spicy brown mustard and kosher dill pickle chips, thin sliced onion.
      Alternate condiment, Cream Cheese and Onion

        I charcoal-grilled a package of 10/1 Klement's Truly Chicago dogs for lunch yesterday.  A pair of them fit very nicely in a Gardner's brat bun, which is to me more like an overgrown hot dog bun in terms of taste and texture.

          That sounds great.  I do a similar thing with a lightly toasted Bay's English Muffin, and it's delicious.  I spread the toasted muffin with mustard and top the half-frank with cheese, Claussen sandwich slice, and homemade slaw.  I could eat this every day with an ice cold Mexican Coke.  Sometimes I place the cheese between both frank haves for a double version.  Sometimes I don't even half the frank at all.  (Boy, is this ever making me hungry.)

              I eat them cold out of the package.
               
              BUT
               
              I do grill them occaisionally too.

                Cast Iron Skillet ... Easy enough to do, with peanut oil...If it's skinless it goes in whole, but if'n it's a natural casing dog or cajun hot link I'll split it, open it up, and score the outside surface with a bunch of crosshatching to prevent curling, and it also crisps up nicely...
                 
                Wood fired outdoor cowboy grill ... I cook using LIVE flames, not coals...this type grill is suspended by a metal tripod...I have lots of oak on the ranch so it's a free resource, but in the winter and in times of very high wildfire danger, I use my:
                 
                Gas Grill ... very convenient...I'm thinking about how I can build a simple shed so I can continue grilling in the wintertime when rain and snow usually means the end of outdoor cooking...
                 
                As a side note...I ALWAYS toast my buns...in the toaster oven IF it's the cast iron method, and directly on the grill the other 2 methods...

                  It used to be the only place you could find them in my area was at Mexican food places (imagine that !!! )...but now they seem to be more available in a variety of places...

                    Lunch today was 2 Heb FRANKS on toasted wheat hd buns cooked on my gas grill (wildfire danger too great to light up oak wood grill)
