what is a hot dog ?

news today thaT our hard working ca legilsators have done more important work- an official state definition of a hot dog!!   
A bill that puts a formal definition of a hot dog into California law passed another legislative hurdle Tuesday in Sacramento.
 The  official description to be encoded in state law..: “A 'hot dog' means a whole, cured, cooked sausage that is skinless or stuffed in a casing, may be served on a bun or roll.” The description also says hot dogs are also know as bologna, frank, frankfurter, garlic bologna, knockwurst, red hot, Vienna or wiener. (wonder if a ripper would still meet this definition?)

I could come up with a MUCH better definition...  Without hardly ANY effort...

I don't know whats more a waste of tax money ;
this in Califonia or my state defending Casey Anthony.

"The staff director of the of the Senate Health Committee said a hot dog definition was requested by the California Retail Food and Safety Coalition to update California code to be consistent with state regulations.  State codes also have formal definitions for other common food items including cold water and an egg. The state definition of a beverage is, “a liquid for drinking, including water.”
I'd love to hear the discriptions for an egg and cold water. Obvious example of why our country is in trouble!!!

The cynic in me assumes that they're defining this for tax purposes somehow.
