There is a "huddle house" section on the Waffle House menu. I really didn't realize there were any stand alone Huddle House restaurants left.

That's a Toddle House section. One of the founders of Waffle House used to be a Toddle House guy. There are plenty of Huddle House restaurants around, but you can;t get a burger there cooked any way but well done. (I was in one recently in Illinois.)

I recently became a 'Regular' as I was going to be in Frederick, MD and would have the chance to eat at Waffle House.  It's been many years since I ate at one.

Of course I had to order the free waffle you get for signing up to be a Regular.

It's not a thick Belgian style waffle, but thinner, with a crisp outside.

Being a thinner waffle, it left plenty of room for their famous hash browns.  I got them 'all the way' which is every topping, including the Jalepenos which I asked to be left off but still got anyway.

I did ask for the sausage gravy on the side and they brought a bowl of it, complete with big pieces of sausage.

      And the hash browns.

I really enjoyed this meal, and if there were a Waffle House closer, I'd go more frequently.  Or more regularly.

I'll have you know that's a real American waffle, not one of those Belgian things.

By the way, I just got back from the Waffle House. I had my hash browns scattered light and peppered.

I knew Michael went to the Waffle House, I just didn't know how regular he is. I think they have a side of prunes on the menu.............

My granddaughter is begging me to take her to the "Wapple House".  She refuses to call it anything else, even though she is 11 years old.  She wants to go and see all of her friends  (the wait staff)  and have lots of sausage!

I sure hope her sausage isn't like the sausage I got the other day -- plastered flat and crisp in the middle and crusty on the outside.

By the way, does she still eat "white butter" on her bagels?

She certainly does;  she also has lox on her bagels, and anchovies!!  Her sister wants strawberry white butter, only!

It reminded me of my mother's cooking -- if you dropped it on the floor it would shatter.

Yours too? Sounds like my mother, RIP. Her cooking was so bad, I thought I was in food heaven in the Air Force chow hall in basic training.

That's too funny. I went on sick call about a week after getting to Sampson AFB for basic because my chest was cold. Seems my heartburn was gone.

Funny but true. Dad learned to cook in self-defense, and us kids looked forward to when he did. He was an awesome good cook. Must run in the male side of the family, I'm pretty good and my brother is also.

My mother's cooking was fabulous, as was her mother's and her grandmother.  I still don't care for Waffle House.......the hash browns are OK.

I larned to cook because it seemed that "Come over to my house and I'll cook dinner for you tonight" was a much more effective line than "Come on over to my house and I'll bring in beer and Jack in the Box tacos"!

yeah I enjoy going to Waffle House...I have a couple regular orders.

                                                1)  Pecan waffle, crisp, with honey and well done sausage, coffee

                                                2) Couple eggs over, with extra grits, wheat or raisin toast, and crisp bacon, coffee

                                                3)  couple eggs over, with double order hashbrowns with onions, wheat toast, sausage, coffee

on occasion, I will sub in country ham on #2.

I can't get used to the idea of a grilled biscuit, to me, biscuits should be soft and fluffy inside.

Grillman, I agree on those biscuits.  A grilled biscuit just isn't appealing at all.  But then, I'm not crazy about grilled pie either.

I like their new jalapeno-cheddar biscuits. In fact, I had one this morning for a sausage biscuit sandwich.

Michael, I didn't know they had a jalapeno-cheddar biscuit.  Sounds good, but did they grill it, too?

They butter it and put the halves on the flattop to warm. It's really a better biscuit than their standard ones. I'll sometimes get one just to eat with some butter and honey.
