Chicago Area Hot Dog Restaurant Closing

Some friends of mine grew up on this place...in Arlington Heights (northwest suburb of Chicago).  I've never been, but apparently it's a local institution.  Too bad.

It's a sad story that's repeated all too often.
Aging owner with no apparent successor, aging building and uncooperative landlord.
This place is in the Vienna Beef Hall of Fame! One would think VB would step in and try to help them find a new owner and facility. What say you CSD?
I love the line where Mrs.. Peeps says the kids don't give her much trouble because she knows most of their parents!! (As customers growing up I assume.) Beautiful! 

What a sad story. As you said, Foodbme, all too familiar these days. We had an Italian sausage place( only sold links or bulk) that closed because none of the kids wanted to take over. An absolute institution on the east side of Milwaukee. Their closing is still mourned by generations of people, as I am sure this place will be.

that is sad.  I think there was a fire there as well a few years back.
 
 

This is sad, but its happening all over Chicago in the past few years. I remember Growing up in the "Ravenswood" area and they had a hotdog stand on the corner west of Montrose and Damen thats gone. And others in the south side near 26th st and their gone. But a few good one's remain.

A sad story, indeed. I didn't know Peep's, but I still lament the loss of Demon Dogs over 5 years ago:

Actually there's another hotdog stand across the intersection even closer to the high school. I know because i live in Arlington Heights!
