Las Vegas Fri, 08/26/11 3:43 PM (permalink)
My wife and I will be going to Las Vegas in early October.  I would like a couple of suggestions for some great dining experiences.  I already have reservations for Mesa Grill (Bobby Flay's restaurant) for dinner before going to see Mystere.

What I would like to find is a couple places to go that won't break the bank.  I am definitely considering M&M Soul Food and The Hash House.  What other suggestions could you provide for us.  My wife is not really a buffet person and considering I have recently lost 70+ pounds they are probably not the best optiion for me either!

We are only going to need a few meals out as the convention supplies lunches and one dinner but I would like to make them really good as I have never been to Vegas before.

Thanks in advance for your help!

There's already been tons of places discussed on here. Use the Search function and you'll find plenty of places. More than you could visit in 100 weekends. No need to re-invent the wheel.

If you have a car try one of the several In n Out burgers in the area. Also the Hushpuppy on Charleston has passable catfish. As mentioned Vegas has been discussed on here many times, the two I mentioned are two that I make sure to visit on what have become my yearly trips to Vegas

Rocky - From what I saw this weekend, the lines for the good buffets can be beyond belief.  The lines made my wife & me skip our buffet plans.

For non-Roadfood on the strip, we ate at Mon Ami Gabi at the Paris Hotel & Casino and found some good values on the menu. The Hanger Steak with Frites is under $20 and is one of my favorite meals.

Did you ever meet the real "BuffetBuster"?

I think I would like to see the Oz Buffet.

This is another perfect example as to why I no longer frequent this forum on a daily basis as I used to.

Guy asks a perfectly reasonable question, and you respond this way.

Why not just refer to the search function and offer suggestions of your own? Rather than responding as you have.

Vegas is a vibrant town, and is constantly changing. I would love to hear what others, besides you have to offer as fresh suggestions.

It's been quite a while since I've been down to "Lost Wages"...

But I have friends who go often and I hear that some of the casino food is quite decent...and although I understand your wanting to avoid the buffets, but those might be the best bet if you can exercise restraint...I've had good feedback about some of the buffets...

In & Out does a great job for burgers and fries, if that's what you want...but for the same price a casino buffet might add a bit more dymanic tastebud pleasers

The Golden Steer.  It's a steak house; old Las Vegas at it's best, great food and great atmosphere.  The Rat Pack used to eat there, need any more be said.
