Restaurant Impossible - Anyone visit the restaurants on show Sat, 11/5/11 1:39 PM (permalink)
Hello all ,

So I found another reality show I like called Restaurant Impossible on Food Network .
Reminds me of Gordon Ramsey show that tries to turn around restaurants .
Has anyone visited any of htese places before or after and what do yuo think of this  guy coming in with $10 grand and turning a place around . ?

I find it very hard to believe they do what they do in 24-48 hours. Some of the stuff they do requires Building code permits and inspections, health dept inspections, etc. As you who are in the business know, that takes days, weeks or months sometimes. I suggest that Restaurant Impossible is just that, Impossible to do in 48 hours; 48 days maybe--48 hours, never.
And I'm sure some of the stuff they do costs more than $10 Grand. Just the payroll for the number of people they use could cost that much.
I enjoy the show but I doubt it's a "Reality" show.

my guess is allot of the labor must be donated and the hd must be contacted ahead of the filming to approve stuff, we just don't see that part of it, just like the food truck race show, nobody ever see's the trucks go buy any permits, the just drive into town buy the supplies when Tyler gives them the money and they start selling

that said, I do enjoy the show, mainly because he is not swearing constantly like ramsey does

In my opinion, Pastori's in Ellington, CT was mediocre before the make over and is mediocre after the make over.

I agree, there is no way in hell that they could get all that construction done over night. Just another of the UNreality shows.

His Dinner Impossible is bs to me also.

They just did a restaurant in my city, I think the episode airs this week. I'd never heard of it until they'd already been and gone, so I couldn't remark on it's quality before the makeover. It's kind of out of the way for me (no reason to be in that part of town usually), so I'd have to make a special trip.

At least its food handling and sanitary practices have improved.

I like both Restaurant Impossible and Food Truck Race. Rumor has it RI will be coming down here in the badlands of New Mexico to a little joint that makes a killing to begin with. We don`t have enough restaurants to begin with, so any place that serves food is always busy. And half of them shut down on Sundays, or only open for breakfast and lunch.

Benzee, my sources, which are very reliable, tell me people from Resturant Impossible has came into the area and interviewed the cafe owners. I guess then they decide if its worthy of making a show out of it. Will try to keep you updated. BTW, if Robert Divine does come down here, he`ll have to bring his own sledge hammer. We don`t offer much shopping in this area.

At least they helped clean up the dive in my town called McShanes. It was so disgusting I would always get my food to go. After watching the show I am surprised I never got sick from it. I have tried it since the makeover & it's the same chicken but more expensive.

Benzee, heard this morning RI not coming down here after all. Was told that the local cafe would have to cut there portion sizes, they refused to do that. You order pancakes there, they overflow the 12 inch plate they come on. I guess they think their smarter than Robert. I mean, they asked the food network to come down here, not the other way around.

Is the chicken worth the higher cost though? It looked pretty good on tv, and I'd probably make the trip out of my way if it was really that good.
