The Olive Garden Has No Choice But to Overcook Pasta

I don't  know that it's a matter of them "coming clean" exactly...more like an attempt at telling the general public THEY are the reason those of us who actually appreciate Italian food find them laughable.

You cannot argue with success, but you'll not find me eating there!

The Olive Garden is to Italian food as Richard Simmons is to a Seal Team 6 member.

I have never felt the urge to patronize an OG and now I know why.... 

I haven't been to one since 2002 and someone else was buying.
if someone else is paying the tab I'd try it again.

I am not shocked..I love to see the commercials of the everything and the kitchen sink dishes..."Now serving: Marinara carbonerra alfredo shrimp with crab meat alla gusto". I am no more tempted to pay money for that than I am rubber shrimp at Red Lobster..

Personally, I have no complaints with OG.  The few times I have been there, I got their salad and bread and maybe a beer or wine.  The value for that was very good.  I certainly got enough salad and bread and the taste was very good.  I have never got their pasta although a friend of mine got it along with their marinara and indicated that it was above average.
 
Their building is attractive and their rest rooms were very clean.  I am not a fan of any chain however there are factors of some that perhaps you can appreciate.  Pick and choose???

That just made me spit water all over my desk.

I think I will now go to OG to get some fresh seafood, cooked the Red Lobster way.  Of course I will need the pasta cooked Chef Boyardee style...  YUM! 
 

Of course we all know that a roadfood joint would NEVER overcook their pasta. That's only done by chains 

I like OG 2 or 3 times a year. AYCE soup and salad is a favorite of mine.

IMO-not the worst of the chains. Salad and breadsticks are fine. I have never had an entree, however, that I have liked.

Ha...as I've said before...there is ok food at some chains...and some terrible food at mom & pop "roadfood" places.......sometimes it's the snob factor(I can't abide chain pizza,others don't mind).......I'm 100% Italian and very fussy about my food....I've had bad food in NYC's little Italy...and love the Gorganzola pasta at OG...I agree with some here...for the money, at least, some meals are quite enjoyable....the salads are fine...and I've had a good glass or two of good red wine,,,,,it's consistant(although even an Olive Garden employee told me quality varies from franchise to franchise--our's in Toms River is an award winner!)So if you like it,go..and don't tell those who find a meal there enjoyable it's Chef Boyaree or the equivalent...it's not. We all love roadfood and we all have opinions, and we can all share them...but when some tell other's they're crazy and wrong....oh I love those comments...hey you hamburger haters, don't eat at 5 Guys,they're not a Luger burger after all. I wouldn't get caught dead at Pizza Hut...but hell,they're in business,and so some must like it...Do I think it's real pizza...hell no...but if you like it......oh hell...this is too hard to explain......I just don't think Olive Garden is as bad as many find it...I don't go there often, but when I do,I've found that our local one is a decent meal for the price...we enjoy the setting, the service in our's is always top-notch, and we don't break our budget...again, I've paid a fortune in Mom & Pop's for pasta no where near what I can make...and we're an Italian family that has home made pasta EVERY Sunday.Our recipes come from my mom who got it from her mom who was born in Italy.....I won't eat terrible pasta...I don't eat tomato sauce dishes ANYWHERE...because I often make it better...I go for specialty pasta dishes, and many of OG's are fine.
   I've tried Carrabba's, that many like, but I prefer OG, if I had to choose.
  Again, is it great Italian..no...is it as terrible as some of the put- downs above? ,this Italian doesn't think so.....but what do I know, I've eaten at 5 Guys and had sea food At Bubba Gump's on Broadway......but hell, you won't see me eating at Papa Johns!!!!!
