Hey brad, good article. I like the term "Underdemolished". Most building are in great locations and hard to let go of. I never knew Toby Keith jumped into the game. That's one of my favorite videos, funny as heck.

I love my toasted ravioli stuffed with Provel covered St. Paul brains when I'm in the Gateway City followed by some gooey cake!

Unfortunately in my area the independents are generally higher priced and offer no upgrade in quality of food or service.

A Zombie themed burger place opened here a few months ago. They were running out of food for the first few weeks, and have a line out the door every day. Over 100,000 burgers sold since August.

Most would be stunned by the rents paid by free-standing restaurants with dedicated parking. Here in McKinney, TX we have a fast-growing (2000 Census: 50,000; 2010: 135,000), affluent (100K median household income) community. Nevertheless, we have had our TGIF, our Bennigans, and our Ruby Tuesday's close in the past few years. Our Hooters is hanging on by their paste-on fingernails. Of course for every closing two newcomers open. That is the "creative destruction" of Capitalism that has resulted in better food, more choices, and greater employment for us. Don't get me started about General Motors ...

Well, the TGIFriday's at the Forum at Olympia Hills in Selma by me is closed. It closed Dec.18th of this year. Why I don't know, as it was right next to Chic A Fila and Romano's Macraroni Grill. It always seemed to have customers, and is no longer listed on it's website, though the other two in San Antonio are.Have no idea what's going in there. There is a chain called Cotton Patch, which has it's gift cards at Walmart in Schertz, so I wonder if they maybe taking over that spot, since the closest one is I believe in San Marcos. And the chain, Black Eyed Pea is looking to come to San Antonio. They have one in town,on Fredricksburg Road. They had others, but pulled out years ago,and just left that one.Now they want to try to come back to this market. No Zombie restaurants here.

The crazy thing is that this place has been getting interest from some QSR and investment groups about franchising and becoming a chain.
