History Rewrites Itself - 1937 Flood Death Toll Rises

Here in Cincinnati history recorded that out of that massive 500 year flood only one person in Cincinnati died as a result of the flood.  A flood that claimed 385 lives along the river's path only claimed 1 life in Cincinnati????

This reminds me of my paper route days in the late 50s in Indianapolis. Friday night was collection night and it took me forever. Why? What still sticks in my mind was the old lady living alone that looked forward to talking to me when I came by. What sticks out most from those conversations was the Great 1913 White River Flood in Indianapolis. funny what little tidbits of information stick in your brain after nearly 60 years.

I remember seeing pictures of the river being almost up to Fourth Street. And down at Coney Island, by the river, they have a giant "thermometer" board that tracks all the floods, with 1937 at the top and labelled "The CHAMP!"

This building you could only see the very top of the roof pitch in the water.
 
In 1997 we used a canoe to get inside one of the browken windows to check things out.  the water was about 5 foot deep
