Today's Roadfood Recipe - Deviled Eggs

I read the recipe and it says to hard boil 7 eggs. Then in the directions it says to divide 6 eggs. It never says what to do with egg #7. So---what do you do with egg # 7??? I can imagine all kinds of imaginative answers!!

The 7th egg will start a thread in Roadfood News eventually.

An extra hard cooked egg, eh? What we have here is a failure to communicate.

It's right there... Cut 6 of the eggs in half lengthwise. Carefully remove their yolks. In a medium bowl combine the yolks with the remaining whole egg, mayonnaise, mustard, relish, lemon juice, optional jalapeno peppers, and salt and pepper to taste. Use a fork to mash them well, blending until smooth.

Use a fork to mash them well, blending until smooth. Guess I missed it because I've never made Deviled Eggs by adding a whole egg to the yolks. I've always made it with just the yolks. Sometimes I'll add an extra yolk to the mix but never made it with a whole egg.

Egg #7 may end up as a blessing. This way you avoid some of those deviled eggs that are like cement mixers. Like the sensation of eating peanut butter from a spoon. Can't think of a word for that...but it would not be good. Is Showtime at the Apollo shown outside of the NYC market?

We only see 49 eggs! Dirty deviled eggs are good. They take you out of the 60s.

I developed an allergy to eggs in my early 20's, and deviled eggs was one of my most favorite things. I still remember how they taste, and wish I could get one down without, well, my throat closing off.
