BOSTON MONTHLY MEETUP . . . . April 12th edition

I hear that a celebration is in order.  CONGRATULATIONS Chris and Amy!!!!!  Where shall we toast the wonderful news??!!!!

Thanks Karilyn! Had we made any decisions regarding general location for the April meet-up? We can't remember...

You've been very distracted since that Clam Pie I'm guessing!
 
I don't think we did . . . So many places in Somerville, so little time!!!  Boston Burger?  I think they're in Davis square . . . so is Five Horses Tavern, Painted Burro, Spike's Junkyard Dogs, Redbones.  Boston Burger has sweet potato fries with caramel!!!  Arlington . . . North End . . . South End . . . Malden . . . Belmont . . . on and on and on

I'm going to skip out in April- back in diet mode- just 4 1/2 weeks till my next big trip (thankfully just a a little over a week this time) and I've got to do some serious reducing between now and then.

What kind of food are folks in the mood for? We could do Asian (Korean fried chicken, Thai, Taiwanese) in Allston? Or BBQ at Redbones or Blue Ribbon? Or Italian tapas in the South End?

All of those are great ideas.  We did italian in March . . . barbecue in Feb . . . what if we go for "Ayersian" in Allston.
 
It's not Asian but I went to the All Star Taco Bar in Allston.  All of the Tacos were delicious (taking others word that the fish tacos were equally good - I'm not a fan)!  I especially enjoyed the spicy pork.  They put different toppings on the meats - loved the pickled cabbage.  A beer was served on ice with lime and a salt rimmed glass - got raves.  I was happy with my mexican coke!
 
Do we have any Plus One's lined up?  I'm trying!!!

Beth pointed out that I wrote All Star Taco . . . meant Lone Star Taco.  No drinking and typing for me - or else I need a designated typist.

Have you all been to the Daily Catch?  There is one on Northern Avenue in Boston and a few others out in the suburbs.  If I had only time to eat at one place in Boston (lived there for 14 years) it would surely be at the Daily Catch.

I suspect the gist of the monthly get togethers  is to do the non-regional stuff,
you know - eat like a local.
 
 

Karilyn, I know Beth doesn't do burgers, so how about picking a burger place?  Boston Burger that you mentioned earlier looks good, and that would align us with Davis Square's other offerings.

Burgers it is - great idea.  Beth won't miss that at all!!!  She doesn't like hot dogs either . . . Spikes too???  I'm showing up with at least 2 people in addition to my self.  Maybe a third.
 
When the weather gets nicer and the sun sets later, we should venture out of the area a bit . . . Revere, Lynn, JP, Medford, etc. . . . or further.  East Boston too . . . there's an italian place that has a lot of history that is supposed to be good, the name escapes me but I've got it written somewhere out of reach right now.  Tell me where and when to meet you.

Wish I could make it ... I'm closer to the other Medford (Oregon) ... See you next month.  I know Ellen is coming in May too.

5:30 at Boston Burger works.  Tonight I met Kendall and Kramer at Tasty Burger on Boylston Street.  They do not offer medium rare as an option - only rare, medium or well.  Should have gone with medium . . . I'm surprised my burger didn't Moo!  Nothing really stood out . . . EXCEPT, their large parking lot.  I was able to park there, then walk to Kramer's rehearsal and listen to the orchestra perform for an hour before going back and getting my car.  LOVE free parking in Boston!  Till thursday . . .
