Generator box

Finally got to the point where I could mount and enclose my generator. Called the MANFAN and asked what the best way to do it and they told me that it is ok to enclose the sides and the top but to leave the front and back open for venting and air flow. So I took their advice and this is what I came up with. I still have to cut an access panel on the left side for my fuel cut off switch, choke and emergency pull start option, but that is another day.

Dang! Now that's a big generator dog! What kinda cargo carrier are you using? I got Harbor freights 500lb.cap. Carrier for my 7550w gen. I think it's going to be too narrow and it feels frail. Questionable on the bumps. I will have to alter or return and go bigger. Also, did balt. Co. inspectors require a box? City has a 58 decibel max. Plus I've been trying to catch up to you anyway, I'm leaning toward the county myself now but logistically can't find the"sweet spot". We need to talk ;) if for nothing at all, just to meet the comp. Personally I wouldn't mind an ally in a concrete jungle.

I built my own box, Total cost was about $150 including the 1/4" steel plate it sits on, The aluminum cost me about $70 and it's free cuts. I got it all locally. Check out these guys, they are in Golden Ring right off of golden ring road. http://www.metalsupermarketsatl.com/ ask for JOE, tell him The hot dog guy sent you if you go there. I went with 1/16th aluminum 5051
