Charleston WV from Tallahassee FL

Headed that way 1st week in July, probably through Charlotte NC.  Need creative eating ideas for our sojurn.  TOUCHE, WJ...

Get off I 510 at Exit 7 and go to Sconyer's BBQ in Augusta. Get off I 20 at Exit 58 in West Columbia and go to Back Yard Cafe for good burgers. Enjoy your trip.

Littleman is almost invariably right on many things, but I can't back him on a detour that vast to Augusta for anything, least of all Sconyers, whose heyday was during the Carter presidency.
 
In Brunswick (more accurately Darien), I have wanted to try B&J Steaks and Seafood for a while (http://www.urbanspoon.com...-Steaks-Seafood-Darien ), and, of course, there's the awesome Willie's Wee-Nee Wagon, whose pork chop sandwich is probably not bettered anywhere.
 
I might also think about swinging by the Kingsman, in Cayce, a suburb of Columbia, for a pimento cheeseburger.  I-77 is a really ugly bore between Columbia and Rock Hill, so have some good tunes ready to distract you!  Just before Rock Hill, along SC-9 about ten miles east, there's a southern cooking place called Wagon Wheel that I've heard good things about.  Then of course there are Bill Spoon's and Bar-B-Q King in Charlotte.
 
Charleston's not a bad town.  Taylor Books is one of my favorite in the country.

Heartbreaksoup!!! Trust me that B&Js is not to be missed. They offer a great country buffet that features some awesome fried chicken. But the star here is the Fresh Shrimp that come from the docks about 2 blocks away. You know they are fresh because it says so on the side of the building.

While you are waiting on your shrimp basket and sip your sweet tea you hear table after table talking about eating here for 20 years or more while traveling I-95 from Florida to the rest of the world and back. Its usually about half travelers and half locals. Here is the star though. I got the 1/2 lb basket,there is also a 1lb version. 18 beautifully butterflied and fried White Georgia Shrimp,texas toast,fries and I also ordered a side of slaw. Awesome.
