Anyway, I didn't know so I did a google. Simple answer is: an El Salvadoran snack or taco using a thick style corn tortilla. ... Hum ... 'johnny cake' or 'southern hoe cake'. The recipes usually have a cheese filling and many added pork, beef or fried beans. ... So based on this recipe http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/emeril-lagasse/salvadoran-pulled-pork-pupusas-with-pickled-cabbage-recipe/index.html (yes, this is Emeril), I came up this OH well, shoot me ... maybe one day I'll follow recipe directions. Anyway most pupusas or tacos seem to use what ever that's on hand; ... I used what I had on hand and it was simple & good! ...  ... I made this yesterday, but didn't take any pictures. I made it again today with pictures. The 'pickled cabbage' or curtido is just a vinegar style coleslaw. ...
