Natural Bridge area/Slade, KY - What's Good to Eat?

We will be staying at the Natural Bridge state park resort for three days around the 4th next month. I recall from past visits that the area seemed to be a bit of a food desert and it was hard to even find restaurants that looked inviting. We did find a "pop up" BBQ place that was awesome at a burned out restaurant near the park a few years ago.
Any experiences worth sharing? Thanks.

Bruen's in Stanton has good food.
