Kit Kat's BBQ - best in New England Mon, 06/18/12 2:12 PM (permalink)
Stumbled upon this excellent BBQ place at 36 Mechanic St in Pawcatuck, CT.  I've tried BBQ at perhaps 20 places in NE (never been pleased) and dozens in the southeast (most being excellent).  Theirs is by far the best pork BBQ I've had in New England (as well as their beans & collard greens).  Whereas most NE BBQ places probably wouldn't survive a week in the SE, Kit Kats would compete very well.

It's a true road-food experience.  It's a converted house with about four inside tables and several outside picnic tables where they smoke their meats in the back yard (not grilled or stewed in BBQ sauce as most BBQ places seem to do outside of the southeast).  It's not obvious from the road where parking is in the back, down their side driveway.  Can't wait to return for their ribs & beef brisket. Homemade potato fries were also excellent, along with several variations on BBQ sauce.  Reasonably priced & excellent quality - Well worth a trip.

Is that in RI? I went to their website and seen an "860" phone number on their window......which is a CT prefix. Maybe right on the line?

My error - Yes, Pawcatuck, CT (adjacent to Westerly, RI) - I was able to edit / correct my posting.

        Thanks.
