Electrical Question

I'm looking at a piece of equiptment and I don't know the difference. 208-240 V, 50-60 Hz, 1ph, 4.4-5.5 A 21-24 KW 208-240 V, 50-60 Hz, 3ph, 4.5-5.9 A 12.7-14.7 KW Would someone be so kind to dumb this down for me? Thank you! EDIT: guess I should have done a little Google search first. Looks like the 3 phase motor is the way to go (seems there are less parts to break and you don't need as much power to run). Thanks for looking

Do you have 3 ph power available? It is not available every where and many places that could have 3 ph service is only wired for single phase service. ... A 3 ph service panel is much more expensive than a single phase.

not practical ... this way ... and I don't think you would find any kitchen equipment that requires 3ph anyway.

The unit I'm considering has a 3p model as well as a 1p. I just don't truly understand the option like I should. If the 3p has an advantage I'd like to explore the option to support it. What are the considerations? Thanks

What specific kitchen equipment do you have or looking at that requires 3ph power? I think you should ask your power company about cost of installing 3 ph & 1 ph services.

I'm putting together a mobile unit. The power company doesn't have anything to do with it. What is the advantage of 3p, if any? Thanks

3 Phase runs a little cooler and you can switch 2 of the 4 wires and make a a motor run in reverse. What kind of equip. I use a 12ft shear and if the shear gets stuck I rewire it to change the stroke to up and then rewire it back. I couldnt imagine 3 phase anything on a food truck.

From the replies it definatly does not sound like the 3p is anyting I should consider for a mobile unit and I don't see any reason why I would go out of my way to support it. Thank you to all that replied!
