eye sight Tue, 09/18/12 7:00 PM (permalink)
Hers one for you. What do you do?

I'm farsighted and threw my bifocals in the garbage. The ticket rail is at eye level. I either bob my head like an idiot or just end up wearing magnifying glasses, which I'm continually removing and putting on my glasses. why can't they make an upside down pair of bifocals? I think my only other option is surgery, which I really don't like. But fortunately the Dr that developed it still practiced in AR. Any other solutions.

I got cataracts. So far can only fix one eye. Fixed focus, no depth perception. I work around it.

It's good you have a sound option if it comes down to surgery. There are too many storefront crash course doctors in these parts...that put folks in far worse shape.

I have double astigmatism so surgery is not an option (so the doctor I trust tells me) but if I walked in to many other places...they'd do me like that quick.

They do make upside down lenses.  Just ask.

My uncle the plumber had them.

You could wear your glasses upside down and run a promotion that the first customer who notices any given day wins a free soda. Get them out early.

I was gonna say what CC said.
Yes, you can get a set of glasses just for work. Wise investment.
Me, I need $5000 to be able to see in two eyes. Was thinking of having my Tip Jar say "Help an Old Man get eye surgery". Don't have to tell them it's me, unless they ask.
I work around it, but I can't see on the right side of my nose. Grocery stores suck. Always bump into people. Is better than being totally blind and better than how so many of our Veterans come back as. I count my blessings. I'm one of those 47% that tries his damnest to make a living, one dog at a time. Life ain't fair, nobody said it was.

@jcheese, go to http://www.vadrs.org/ this is what they are there for. My wife works for the AR version of the same program. They will pay for the surgery 100%. Still do the Tip Jar for your down time tho. PM me if you need more info. It's a good program!!
