Some new and old places in the Phoenix area. Thu, 11/1/12 12:19 AM (permalink)
First, the new places.
The Praying Monk in Old Town Scottsdale is the creation of a very good Chef named Aaron May who also created or is part of Over Easy, The Lodge, Mabel’s on Main and May’s Counter in Tucson. Praying Monk is an "American" kinda place with interesting touches.
For Breakfast try Over Easy:
My favorite is "The Over Easy" - Toasted brioche with sautéed spinach, fried egg* & natural jus with bacon & scallions
The Lodge is a neat place-
My Favorite is "The Nicolet Forest Skillet" - Scrambled Eggs, Sliced Bratwurst, Sauteed Onions, Green Peppers, and Tomatoes over Breakfast Potatoes, Melted Cheddar Cheese and Texas Toast.
And now the Old Place.
The Stockyards Steakhouse has been around since 1947! In Phoenix years, that's like Biblical Years!
We've lived here for 12 + years and have talked about going there many times but finally made it last night for our 54th Wedding Anniversary!
We Were Delighted! The Ambiance of the place and the food was outstanding! Since I rarely see it on menu's anymore, I had the Calf's Liver. The best I've ever had! The Bride had Prime Rib and it was melt in your mouth good. I watched a lot of steaks coming out of the kitchen and they looked terrific.
If you go, be sure to check out the Saloon! It's Old West Beautiful! And they have a separate Saloon Menu for light eating. A little pricey, but good quality eats. I Highly recommend the place.
