Bullies BBQ on Hilton Head Island Thu, 11/8/12 2:11 PM (permalink)
We have never tasted better brisket!  It is shaved thin and piled high.  They offer four different types of BBQ sauce to top your off sandwich.  The fries were fresh and HOT.  Several side dishes are also offered.
In addition to brisket (my favorite) they have pulled pork, chicken (whole, half or pulled) and ribs
Check out their website at bulliesbbq.com

This is a small lunch and dinner venue with 5 or 6 tables and seats on a counter facing the windows.  Very clean.  I suggest you don't skip this one if you love BBQ!
The picture is of the Jumbo brisket sandwich.  As a combo with 2 sides and a drink, cost is about $10.50

If this is indeed good BBQ, it will be a first for Hilton Head, in my experience.

        "Shaved thin" brisket?

My thoughts exactly, if done properly, shave it thin and it falls apart!

I have attached a picture.  Maybe my interpretation of shaved is different from yours but it is sliced very very thin (like Chicago's Italian beef) and doesn't fall apart.  It is tasty and moist with a light smoked flavor.  The place is really taking off.  We went for lunch today and the business was non-stop!  I believe the owner has another store in the Cleveland area.

"If done properly"  Isn't this a little judgemental?  It was very thin, it was very good, and it didn't fall apart!

Yes it is judgemental, but since I own a nationally known BBQ joint, known for among many items, fantastic brisket, I'll stick by my judgement.
I don't mean to be snarky, I'm just saying....

I recognize your qualifications, but I thought this site was an opportunity for people to share their eating experiences with others.  I posted an opinion of a great little restaurant we visited, thinking others would like to hear about it.  Instead I get replies from three of RF's elite challenging my opinion.  Not based on the fact that any of them had visited this restaurant but just their opinion, as informed as they may be.  First I get "if this is indeed good BBQ" then "shaved brisket?" and then your "If done properly."  Give me a break you guys should listen to yourselves!  Try the place, then you can analyze my opinion.  I have always bragged about this site to the restaurant owners I meet, now I have my doubts.  I would be ashamed to have the owner of this place see how you reacted to my post.  By the way, I have never been to any national BBQ chain that even comes close to the brisket this place has and you are being "Snarky"

Speaking for myself, I didn't mean to be snarky.  My father retired to Hilton Head and I  went there many times to visit him before his death, and I never found good BBQ there. Not having tried the place you describe for myself -- and I most likely never will -- I was simply observing that if (that is, assuming that) it is as good as you say, it will be the first time there's been good BBQ on the island (IMHO).

I can't speak for the others, who are certainly more authoritative on BBQ than I am!

But if I offended you, I do apologize.

My response of "Shaved brisket?" had to do with the fact that I've never heard of such a thing when it comes to Q. I have to think that doing that to brisket that's been smoked to succulence would cause the loss of a great deal of character and luciousness.

And, for what it's worth, I am not a barbeque expert. I am merely a barbeque eater.

Oh, and I don't apologize for anything I posted.

CETURTL, you have thin skin. You post something here, you get honest responces, to be brutally honest, the picture you posted looked more like Chicken salad than brisket. If you say it tastes great, well good, I'm glad for you!
