Private Parties - Catering

A question regarding Private Parties and Catering. Where I live in the Fort Worth area we have several small communities right together. Each one has a differing set of rules with the Health Departments and Hot Dog carts. I have been inspected by Tarrant County though several cities in the county still vary from that. If I am catering a private party, say in Euless where the Health Department states 'No Hot Dog Carts!', will that come into play? Do individual Health Department Guidelines become a concern for private events? As always any and all information is helpful! ~Lonestar

If your catering a private party, you s/b fine. It's up to the caterer to keep the hot foods hot and the cold food cold, how ever thats done is up to you. You could serve out of chafing dishes, how would that be different than your cart. Make sure you are following all health codes, the health dept will not inspect you unless you are serving the public at a public function. You may check with the local health dept to see if anything is needed to cater a private function in that area. All you really need to tell them is, you have everything needed in order to cook and serve the food properly............good luck................pnwc

Here in Maine, if you have a food license you can cater, the city doesn't require a permit for catering private events. I do catering whenever i can as it is a fixed price for a fixed amount of food and so takes a lot of stress and guess work out of my job.

Lonestar Dogs VERY EASY TO JUST CALL THE CITY YOU AE GOING TO WORK IN AND ASK THEM A question regarding Private Parties and Catering. Um....I would say, ask the health department? Honestly why not just ring them up and ask them if it's private party/catering situation does the no hot dog cart rule still apply.
