Advice on cooking dogs. Mon, 02/25/13 6:17 PM (permalink)
Hi there everyone,

So I was curious which way of cooking dogs do you find much better? Currently I steam mine.

I see a lot of people boil them. Does that take away from flavor?

AD..... Use the search function here, there is a gold mine of information on this site.
Read, read, read and then read some more. If you can't find an answer, then ask away!
Boiling vs steaming has been covered here many times.

What chefbuba said.....quick answer from me - I used to steam....had a hard time with them drying out my dogs a bit...all mine have casings on them so your mileage may vary.  Now I boil and they are super juicy baby.

Simmer natural casing dogs..never boil. The can also be charbroiled - they do this in Chicago with Vienna Hot Dogs
Griddle or charbroil skinless dogs. Watch ingredients as some ingredients do not allow dogs to hold up well over time on a flat top.

Zum....well boiling may be too strong of a word with what I do.  I have a double boiler so I guess I am simmering and not actually boiling...but good point!
