I have the model from Acity Discount but in 4 foot length. The front is only 4" and my ceiling is also 79" high. Fits just fine, plenty of head room in the front.

Yes, I think that would bump into your head, I specifically chose the model with the 4" front for the clearance.

Check your code requirements for the min. floor to front edge hood clearance. I believe the max. distance is 48 " above the cook tops/surfaces is the usual max. distance given. ... i wouldn't have the front edge lower than 6'6 above the finished floor. Most cooks will bump their heads working under a lower hood.
