Thanks to everyone for the kind wishes. I'm doing pretty well, but suffering badly from cabin fever. I'm supposed to graduate tomorrow from a walker to a cane, and that'll be a welcome change. Without lleechef's efforts I'd be in really bad shape. She's fetching and carrying, helping me in and out of bed, changing the dressings, feeding me -- and of course, bringing me up short in true Nurse Ratched fashion. The thing that has surprised me the most has been the pain -- or really, the lack thereof. I've not taken anything but acetaminophen the whole time. If anyone is contemplating hip replacement surgery I highly recommend The Ohio State University Hospital East. Pretty nurses, too. But bring your own salt and pepper. Again, thank you all. Oh, and now I revert to my true self -- the miserable SOB.

Pretty soon they will have these procedures down to a "Quik Lube" type operation. Drive in, get fixed, drive home!

mar52 No Pain! Great news! Mar, Michael has no pain, that doesn't mean that Lisa isn't in pain. I was thinking of collecting money to send Lisa on a 6 week pain reliever trip to Alaska. When Michael gets back on his feet all he would need is a few cases of Chef Boyardee Rovioli............ Like Michael said.........Again, thank you all. Oh, and now I revert to my true self -- the miserable SOB. .................My Boy is back.............Bill

Bill, after the way he barked at me this morning, make it a one-way ticket to Alaska please. And hold the Boyardee ravioli. He can eat salad.

I vote with Cajun King in this catfight... MH, sit down (carefully) and listen to the lady. That's the key to successful Home Health Care. (signed) Another Old Guy with a Nurse-Wife, who listens to her, then ignores those directions silently and selectively !

I guess I'm going to survive my barking. lleechef made some of the most delicious broccoli cheese soup for me for lunch today, after the departure of the home nurse, the physical therapist and the occupational therapist. Frankly, I'm amazed at her patience with this patient.

Frankly, I'm amazed at her patience with this patient. It may have been easier if she still had the fishing boat and had you recovering on it. No one would question a man falling over board. When you live in the city she has to drag your sorry ass out side and burry you in the back yard. She is a smart gal, I would worry when she asks if you want to go fishing soon..................pnwc

Oh wow, I forgot about the possibilities a fishing boat could provide! I could also get rid of the nurse, the physical therapist and the occupational therapist all at once. But Lake Erie is too shallow. I do have one advantage though, I can drive and he can't! HA!

Again, thanks to all. I'm apparently doing very well. At least that's what the physical therapist and the occupational therapist say. And a week ago our family doctor was showing me off (the walking part) to other docs in her office. I figure I'm doing OK strictly on the basis of being able to get in and out of bed all by myself.
