Chinese "Water Boiled Fish"

This was tonight's main course at dinner.

The boring but literal translation is Water Boiled Fish.  That is hot oil and it also has mouth numbing Sichuan pepper corns.  This version is with tofu but it can be had with cabbage or bean sprouts.  There is also a similar dish with beef.

I took the picture and am posting it mainly because every time I have it I'm reminded of the picture posted by Wanderingjew from Joe Rogers Chili Parlor.  I really liked Joe Rogers, as did my wife, Jane who is Chinese.

This is the other course, Pork with Bamboo.

I had a Korean version many, many years ago.  It was good.  It was made with clear fish broth, white fish, a thick flavorful seaweed, with red chili pepper in the broth.   As with most Korean soups, it was hot.     ... I think it cured a cold I had at the time.
