Suggestions for Grand Island to Colorado border? Tue, 07/30/13 12:59 AM (permalink)
[Helpful answer received] / [List Solutions Only]
Was very disappointed to sign up for premium service & find scant recommendations for trip from mid-Iowa to Colorado Springs, and nothing at all from Grand Island to the Colorado border.

Wondered if others on the forum had any good suggestions for this stretch --- open to ideas for any meal or even late-night snacking.  Thanks!

I can tell you where not to go....
I know things can change but Homemade Heaven Sandwich Shop  in Ogallalawas a complete disaster when we visited just over 5 years ago.

In Hastings check out Back Alley Bakery
if you're lucky, they may have bierocks on their rotating specials

Off the beaten path.... Sehnert's Bakery and Bieroc cafe  in McCook is worth the detour

Wow, thank you both so much!   Sorry that I didn't reply earlier --- thought that the program would notify me if there were responses.  CanjunKing, I appreciate your letting me know that these had been posted.

Sounds as though you both have had a lot of experience! :-)

Appreciate that you included places to AVOID!  haha!  Once burned, twice shy, no?

          You're welcome.
The reason why I mentioned the place to avoid is because it is featured here on Roadfood as a user review under the restaurant section.

Yes, I had seen the original recommendation by the user, & had mentioned the positive review to my husband, so we probably would have stopped there, had you not intervened!    Thanks again!
