I need a quiet generator. Sun, 09/22/13 2:37 PM (permalink)
I live in Wisconsin. I run an ONAN 6000. I want to convert it to NAUTURAL, propane, thinking this would quit the unit down considerably. I have seen a lot of trucks with the generator inside the cab, on the passenger side of the truck. Used as a seat or even extra counter space. Can anyone help me with this? Also Do anyone know if it is good idea to reconfigure the unit and move it under the truck?

I use the Honda EU2000i portable generator. It is super quite. It is rated 2000 watt max, 1600 watt continuous.
The best price I've found is Wise Sales online.
You can also get a combo package with 2 generators that hooks up with a parallel cable kit and will give you 4000 watt max and 3200 watts continuous.

You can't beat the price with free shipping. If you have a Northern Tool in your area, they have them for the same price.

I assume you mean 'quiet'   as opposed to a 'not running' broken down generator.   ... If you really want a broken down gen, I may be able to find one.

I don't think changing the fuel type will make the gen run any quieter.   This a characteristic of the equipment and size of muffler.  You can enclose the set for sound proofing and/or extend the exhaust pipe to above the truck to reduce the sound level.

I use a Champion 2000W inverter. Essentially the same as the Honda at 1/2 the price. Can be stacked with the adapter for 4K watts. Same Db as Honda. Don't believe me, check the reviews on the RV forums.
