Pies In and Around Nashville, TN Thu, 10/3/13 5:50 PM (permalink)
I was thinking the other day...

"What would drive my good friend Buffetbuster up a wall more than while I am house sitting in Nashville I explore the local pie shops, and post TONS of pie pictures"

So with that thought in mind I started to do some research on Nashville Pie Shops

Here is my list thus far:

The Loving Pie Company
2806 Columbine Place
N'ville
www.thelovingpiecompany.com

The Pie Wagon (Meat & 3 + Pies)
1302 Division Street
N'Ville

Sweet Creations
901-B Monroe St
N'Ville

Loveless Cafe
N'Ville

Arnold's Country Kitchen
N'Ville

Arbuckle Mountain Fried Pies
34 Arcade
N'Ville

Geraldine's Great Chess Pies
900 Rosa Parks BLVD
N'Ville

The Pied Piper Eatery
1601 Riverside Dr
N'Ville

Sylvan Park

Becker's Bakery
2543 Lebanon Pike
N'Ville

I think I will need some extra insulin on this trip.

Come on Smashvillians anymore pie shops out there to try?

You are a major brat, CK!!

Just to get things "rolling," here's a photo I snagged off Yelp from a buddy of mine--he took it at Arnold's Country Kitchen.  Note his caption.

And here is a picture of a Peach Fried Pie from Puckett's Boathouse.

It was very good but not awesome in our opinions. Mrs. Sippi thought it was, for lack of a better term "trying to hard" and I thought it was missing a little something. When it was paired with ice cream it was great. They were a good match.

I will also add Puckett's Grocery in Franklin, Tn.

Their Chess Pie, which was the first I'd had, is simply excellent. One of those, "Where have you been all my life" moments.

While not as good, the Chocolate Chess Pie is also terrific. I just like the more vanilla/custardy tasting "Normal" Chess Pie than this one.
You can get a regular Chess Pie at Puckett's Grocery in Leiper's Fork, Tn that is pretty much the same as the other Puckett's. I don't think they're the same recipe but I may be wrong.

The Pecan Pie is fantastic as well. Hard to go wrong with either.

If all that wasn't enough, here's more Chess Pie for ya.
This one, from Kleer-Vu Lunchroom in Murfreesboro. Just as good as the one's above.

          Ya, I like Chess Pie.

I forgot about this one. Made by Pie Sensations in Columbia, Tn.
This is a great pie. Took first place at the Tennessee State Fair. It really does taste like turtles.
It's on the menu at Truelove's Pizza and Grits. Which is a pretty great place too.

Meant as a compliment...The bottom layer of your Turtle Pie sure looks like CAVIAR to these rain-soaked eyes this morning. !!

It is great to see the layer of Tennessee CARMEL on the same piece though !!

I am both flattered and envious!

We have enjoyed some good pies in and around Nashville at places like Swett's, Rotier's, Arnold's and Pie Wagon, but the ones at the original Sylvan Park are tough to beat.

Please remind me, what dates will you be there?

Gonna be in Franklin TN over Christmas.
Gotta check out Trueloves Pizza And Grits.
They should make a Grits, Sausage & Egg Pizza for breakfast!

BB - I am headed down there October 30 and will be returning to Yankee territory after the first of December.  I am doing slugburgers - Nashville Burgers - Nashville Pie Shops - and Various in the 5 weeks I will be there.

Davwud - I have been in love with Chess Pie for 25 years.  It is simple to make yet can be sooo elegant too.

I see from the suggestions I have several more stops to make in my search for pies.  I will have to post a photo of my "Binder" for the trip.
I made a sheet for each place and..... well I will post it so you all can see what I am talking about.
