Spring Break "Where's Mollie"

Mollie's view of this mountain range from our room.

I always send her in first to make sure it's safe.

looks like it's ok, it looks steamy in here!

Have to run..........Be back later with more clues..............

Obviously she's in Maryland. Those are the Catoctin Mountains and the tunnel is the rear entrance to Chubby's.

tcrouzer: Mollie has traveled more her first year of life than I did my first 18 yrs. She's a easy traveler and a pleasure. Mollie turned 13 last Dec, I'm not sure how many more she will get excited about. The tweeny years are here.

We took the car ferry across Kootney lake to a broom store/shop that makes unique brooms. We took Mollie here about 10 yrs ago when we bought a few of these to hang on the wall at our mountain home. These people made brooms for the movie Bewitched and also worked with the Harry Potter people.

Time to start Mother's Day shopping for the mother-in-law.  Broom, what a perfect idea.  She can ride that instead of making everyone else drive her places.

Thxs Ed, it's only 2 months away and we will be traveling down your way. That's way we stayed closer to home for her spring break. Mollie is a rock hound, we figured she would love the hot spring caves. Ed, have fun on your trip.

Ainsworth resort has 43 rooms, restaurant and lounge. You can't beat the view and the hospitality. Everyone at the resort was wonderful. The view of the mountains can be seen while having dinner in the restaurant or relaxing in the hot spring pools. One of the things I loved about breakfast was the house made white and wheat thick sliced bread. It really doesn't take much to make a good breakfast, home made bread/toast brings it over the top for me.

Joyce had the Steak & Eggs with white toast:

I'm getting spoiled at home with my daily fresh eggs from my hens. I think I may need to start making homemade wheat bread.

Lisa, there was a kid about 15 yrs old eyeing up Mollie. I saw him come a bit closer, nudging to about a foot away from where Mollie was sitting at the pool.. We made eye contact, romance over, back to normal.........

I realize you were in Canada where it would be illegal, but I recommend that when back in the states you get a carry permit so you will have a pistol handy when needed in situations such as you describe. By the way, I found that a shotgun in plain sight leaning against the wall by the front door was always effective when a date came calling.

I'm sure they appreciated your expertise in the kitchen. I can hear it now:
    Damned know-it-all foreigners!

No beano needed. I never get beans with my Cincinnati "chili." It's bad enough I have to call it chili, but I won't further desecrate the word by including beans.

It was time Mollie had her favorite meal, Spaghetti.

Joyce had the Fish & Chips...they were good crispy and tender on the inside.

I had a Reuben with black bean soup.

    Washed it down with

Mollie's a beauty. And she knows good food. Except, if I recall correctly there was an issue involving catsup and hot dogs. But I'm sure she's outgrown that.

Simple solution: Always order three-ways, or four-ways with onions, not beans. No five-ways.

Back from the ferry ride to show Mollie the Broom place, she also got a lesson on weaving blankets.

A stop for lunch at the ferry dock.
I had French dip and a Caesar, it hit the spot.

Joyce had Teriyaki Salmon with a salad: She said she will wait for the Copper river salmon run next time:

    Mollies Chicken tenders and fries:

Replace the bottle cap ??? Or make a lable ????

An osprey nest view from the restaurant. I think a duck was borrowing it.

Heading back, Mollie is looking forward to a dip in the pool. We travel home tomorrow, thxs for coming along with our family.

Lovely trip report; I've only been to Canada two times, and never on the West Coast of it. Very dreamy, picturesque scenery. Food looks terrific - I don't think I ever had a bad meal in Canada.

    There's nothing like a daughter!

Come see us in South Jersey this summer - there's lots to do here (though I'm getting very antsy and REALLY want to travel).
