South Georgia summer peach ice cream.

If you are in south Georgia during peach season a stop at Burton Brooks Orchards is hard to beat. Not far off of I-75 at Barney,Ga just above Valdosta. This is a working peach shed that's sells all sorts of seasonal fruits and vegetables. There is also a stand selling old fashioned churn ice cream made with locally grown peaches, strawberries, and blueberries. Yesterday you could have actually walked out into the orchard with your ice cream and picked your own peaches. I have had all 3 flavors and a favorite is hard to pick.

The ice cream and the whole peaches look wonderful.  Unfortunately the severe winter knocked out 98% of Ohio's peach tree buds so we won't have any local peaches this summer.  Hope we get some from Georgia.

That's some nice looking ice cream. Wish I had a tub of it right now. My peach tree took a really hard hit this past winter. Not sure I won't have to cut it down next year. No buds and it looks like the lower half of the branches might be dead. Hoping it pulls through, though. On the upside, though my apple has more apples on it than ever before. Guess it liked the cold weather and snow.

    chickenplucker-
That ice cream looks sensational!  The best peach ice cream I have ever had is from Clemson University, which they make fresh on campus.  But, that looks like it could rival it.

fanaledrinks112Here in the deep-south, Georgia, everyone is excited about peaches!  Of course, it is the “Peach State”.
