Armenian restaurants

My favorite restaurant of my 50 years of eating out was the now vanished Dardanelles (Armenian) in Manhattan. Is anyone aware of a good Armenian restaurant west of the Mississipi?

If you're ever in Chicago, there's "Sayat Nova". Don't know the address, but it's still there. I think it's the only Armenian restaurant in Chicago. Very good food.

How far west you wanna go? Here in Fresno, CA, we've got a large Armenian community and plenty of good restaurants of that genre.... the "George" family of restaurants are probably the best... George's Shish Kebab (1 and 2) and George's Bar and Grill... plus the local Armenian churches often have "merchant's lunches" that feature the best of homemade Armenian foods..

Thanks for suggestions; may not ever get back to Chicago but Fresno is a possibility. If anyone knows of Armenian restaurant in AZ or New Mexico, please let me know. Something called Ekmek Kaymak as part of a dessert brings back awakened taste buds.

Don't be afraid of Turkish as a good subsitute for Armenian. My family is from what is now central Turkey and as far as I am concerned, the Turks stold all of their recipes from the Armenians!

Was that before or after they tried to kill all of the Armenians?

stole them before of course, then tried to kill to shut them up. I am going with what I hope is a humorous sideline, as I know this can be quite politically charged.

TRIED TO KILL? Now, now, I have nothing against the Turks...but don't tell my father I am sneaking into the Turkish restaurants! I am a 2nd generation Armenian American, and only 1/2 Armenian anyway.
