Livermush Sandwiches

I know that a lot of you are not fortunate enough to get livermush in your parts of the world, but here in Piedmont North Carolina, it is plentiful. One of the best ways that I like mine is served at a local
place called Tonys. They serve it all the way-grilled crisp livermush with mustard, chopped onion and chili on a hamburger bun.
At home , I like to fry it crisp and eat with mustard and onion.
How do you people like your livermush.

After I read Emsmom's posting yesterday, I went straight home and made me one. Fried crisp, on white bread, just mustard (brown). Normally I eat it fried with grits - good with country-fried potatoes and eggs sunny-side up, too.

It is my impression that livermush is somewhat like scrapple or goetta.
I love scrapple with my eggs and I hope to find some livermush for breakfast when we get to the Ashville area later this month. Anyone got any suggestions of a place to find it?

There is a restaurant adjacent to the NC Farmers Market in Asheville called Moose Cafe. They serve a good breakfast as well as lunch and supper. It is at the entrance to the Farmers Market and can be reached from I 40 or I26 either one quote:Originally posted by seafarer john

I just had a great livermush sandwich (with onions, coleslaw, and mustard on a burger bun) for lunch at "Glenn's" in Wilkesboro, North Carolina. Washed it down with "Cheerwine". I'm getting a taste of all the great NC specialties before I head back to the midwest.
I also had a livermush biscuit (with mustard) at "Don's Char-Grill" in North Wilkesboro yesterday.

I'm one of the fortunate ones that dont have Livermush in my part of the world... Something between Liver and Mush just dont sound right... Reminds me of my liver after a weekend of libations...
