I'm driving from San Diego to Atlanta along route I-10 and I-20. Does anyone have any recommendations for best eateries along these routes (BBQ joints, even better)? Thanks.

Thanks for the tip...on my way to PHX next week on business. Even closer to I-10 is Tom's Chicago Style BBQ in Mesa. Also worth a stop.

I posted our July experiences at Strawn's Eat Shop in Shreveport, LA and Dreamland BBQ Ribs in Tuscaloosa, AL on July 17th under the title "Atlanta to Central Kansas" on the "Where Should I Eat" forum. Either is an excellent choice.

I have to agree with Milt & Fatz here...Stop at Strawn's in Shreveport, if possible. Not necessarily known for BBQ, but their fried chicken (Fatz: Is Wednesday still fried chicken day?) is outstanding.

Strawn's Eat Shop in Shreveport offers fried chicken on their hot plate lunch menu seven days per week. The other two meat offerings vary by the day of the week - meatloaf, chicken and dumplings, chicken fried steak, roast beef, or turkey and dressing.

They began, I think, as a pie shop. This is their second location. You must have the pie. Whatever your favorite flavor, they'll prolly have the best one you've ever eaten.
