We thought you'all might like to see the 20-pound first draft of the manuscript for the new edition of Roadfood, due out in the Spring. I don't know exactly how many pages it is, since there are a, b, c, d, e, f, etc. pages added after others, but I can tell you it's over 150,000 words and it includes about 200 restaurants that weren't in the 2002 edition. (Don't mind the coffee stain on the front page; at least it's not blood, sweat, or tears!)

Is this the part where the publisher tells you that the book is going to be printed as a 4" X 6" pocket paperback?

Thanks a lot. I've been sitting at my desk trying to kick-start a 2,500 word feature, and you have to show me 150,000 words, with a coffee stain, for Pete's sake.

Jeez, was Bill Clinton your ghostwriter? You guys are threatening to make his book look like a pamphlet.

Michael. I think you're approaching the limits of paper (this addition may resemble the Manhattan Yellow Pages from the looks of things). Maybe you'll need to publish this on a CD-ROM to be used in laptop computers. LOL. It does look impressive.

We're looking forward to replacement of our dogeared old efition of "Roadfood" - congratulations on completion of a monumental task.

                            Now the dreaded re-writes...

I love Stephen King's book "On Writing"...but have a hard time following his editing rules.

Best of luck, you guys! Can't wait to get a copy!

                              Michael,
I'm waxing down my surfboard... can't wait for June (or whenever it comes out)!

                              P. S. It might be hard to fit Blood, Sweat & Tears on that small a stage, especially with all those horns and all. Maybe you oughta settle for a solo performer instead....

It looks like there is something for everyone in there! How many bottles of Pepto did you go through to write that work of art? Congrats and can't wait for it to hit the book stores!

I've got one completely mangled edition, 1 autographed edition with only a couple food stains, I think I need one more to complete my set!

Congrats on the new edition, but I'm disappointed. By the title of this forum, I thought it was going to be about some of the "biggest" meals out there - meaning the most food you can get for your money. Maybe someone else can start such a conversation.
