Cricket Dogs

Anyone have any experiences with The Cricket by the airport in Stratford, CT? I have not been there in years, but some old co-workers who now work out that way swear by The Cricket hotdogs. They tried telling me that they're better than Danny's AND Super Duper Weenie. Is that even POSSIBLE?

I've passed it hundreds of times, but almost always in the morning before they open. I'll have to make a point of trying it out some time soon.

Could that be the same Cricket that was thre in the 1950s and 1960s? That place had great stuff.

They are good dogs, deep fired and grilled if memory serves me. Used to go there many times years ago, then drive to short Beach to chow down by the sea.

Hummel's long dogs are what is served.
They can hold their own with the others.

Biggest difference is that the Cricket doesn't offer the 'specialty' dogs that Danny's and SDW have.

They have a spicy relish with a nice kick and afterburn.

I, personally, am not fond of their chili, though.
I'm partial to no-bean chili as a condiment for my dogs.

Michael Hoffman - The Cricket is on lower Main St at the corner of Access Road, a small car hop-style stand.
The only seating is counter space looking out at the road on 11 bar stool along 3 walls.

That's the place.
