Hostess Apple Pies - AFL CIO CEC

I love the apple and peach Hostess Pies. They are absolutely wonderful, but today, I was eating an apple pie and I noticed a stamp at the bottom of the package close to the seam that had AFL CIO in a circular type at the top of the stamp and CEC at the bottom. Does anyone know what this means and why it is on these wonderful desserts? Thank you for your input. Whitley4

The AFL CIO represents the organized labor movement (The American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations). There's a CEC that's an environmental consortium among the US, Canada and Mexico, I believe. So, I guess Hostess is pro labor, and pro environment. Or something.

I thought it meant that the pie cost more than it should do to artificially high, non-market based wages.

Some of you guys are treading on sacred soil when you belittle the labor movement. Just keep in mind that whatever you are earning is because some labor union stiffs have faught the good battle to try to keep everyon's wages up to where they are.

I did write my post partly tongue-in-cheek. Although when I look at all of Wal-Mart's well treated, highly paid workers, I wonder why others think that collective bargaining is needed. (he says in an ironic tone...)
