I grew up in fairfield and for the past 10 years been in nyc. but when i visit my parents i always see the weenie sign and also have met gary socially and think he's a sweet guy. but I was SO LET DOWN by his dogs. what is the big deal? Got a dog with mustard, relish and kraut. The hot dog was tasteless, there was NO relish but some red watery stuff on top of the kraut. I would have a canteen dog, rawleys dog, hell even a duchess dog with the works any day to get my hot dog fix.

Did you get the New Englander Shen? Normally that is my favorite dog from SDW. As mentioned in some previous thread Gary's hot dogs are a mild version as apposed to spicy so the home made condiments show a greater presense. Hope all his new expanding hasn't lead to a decrease in quality. I'll have to get down to Fairfield soon and see what's going on.

I specifically asked for mustard, relish and kraut. it was weird...this watery red stuff all on top. I think it would have been decent if there was some good ol sweet relish. but honestly this was a terrible tasting hot dog. my faves are def: - canteen in bridgeport - katz's deli - papaya king - duchess - rawleys
