I walked through SF's Ferry Building food hall today and happened to notice the price at the Golden Gate Meat Company stall for "certified organic fillet steak": $36.80/lb http://www.goldengatemeatco.com/ I know beef is probably more expensive in Japan (it was about $30/lb when I lived there in the 70's), but is this a record for US beef? If not, what do you get by paying more?
