I like the Wilbur chocolate also. I remember visiting the Wilbur candy place when we visited in PA. Lititz is an interesting little town. We also went to a pretzel shop in the middle of town that my daugter remembered visiting there via television with Mr. Rogers

            BT, you homer!

But, you may have hit the nail on the head. We took a tour of their factory when we were out in Berkeley last month. Very informative, and they gave you plenty to sample. They are especially good if you like darker (European) chocolates. The tour is free and well worth your time if you are out that way.

There is a local place here in FL that sells chocolate dipped potato chips that are my absolutely favorite thing. I don't indulge nearly often enough, but they are definitely a holiday staple in this area. I believe I may have mentioned them on another thread -- Grimaldi's.

As a chocoholic all I can say is - IT'S ALL GOOD. Except for Palmer brand(makers of cheap Easter and Halloween chocolate) which I think is made from melted brown crayons.

Did any of you have to help sell the "World's Finest Chocolate" bars for your children's fund raisers? I think I "helped" sell as many of those as I did Girl Scout Cookies!

                        heh heh heh!

While running from Frances, I see that the folks here out west favor See's Chocolates, too. I was unfamiliar with them, but someone in the office is bribing me to bring some back for the gang. They look good now, but if I get stranded in an airport, I don't know that they will make it back home!

Don't bother hauling them around. I mentioned elsewhere, my mom in Ormond Beach is hooked on See's and I order their stuff for her from their web site all the time and they deliver it to her door in FL in great condition.

Not much to hauling them around. I am pretty sure I saw an outlet in LAX and I saw one in downtown Portland. My only aversion to carrying them is the affect on fitting my fat behind into the plane seat if I chow before the flight!

Thanks for the link to the website. I've been buying the New Moon bars at my local co-op grocery and I thought that was the darkest one they had. Now that I know there's an even darker chocolate available I'll have to start bugging them to order some!

My vote is for See's as well. One of our salesreps from down south sends them up every year and I am hooked. I love the different combinations of nougat & nutty things. I have not tried the others to be fair, but because of the wonderful world of technology will be ordering on line. Pretty soon I'll have to but a "love seat" in front of this computer!!

As a simple person, I say Russell Stover.
I have had See's but not enough to rate it. It was pretty tasty though!

I can take or leave chocolate (yes, I know --- BLASPHEMY!), but my boyfriend swears by Godiva. I like them with fruit fillings.

There are only a few....uh....times, when I would take chocolate over something else for dessert.

Just bought a bar of Scharffen Berger bittersweet. It is very good. Deep flavor and a nice lingering after taste. The texture was a little strange. Initially, it is a little waxy. But once it melts and the flavor starts to come out it is really nice.

The best I've tasted so far across the country is right here in my hometown. Oliver's Candies. Normally I'm a milk chocolate fan but you can give me Oliver's milk or dark chocolate and I'm a happy person.
                                            I vote Oliver's Candies!

I like the worlds finest with almonds to when i can find them. (all school year)

I really like dark chocolate, usually between 62-75%, I got a Lindt bar the other day it was 85%, WOW was that strong, and had a very dry mouth taste to it.

The only chocolate grown and produced here in the us is Vintage hawaiian chocolate. Oh man is this stuff good.

For inexpensive chocolate, I like Wilbur.

For expensive stuff, I like Guittard (that's the chocolate that See's uses in their candies).

For organic, I like Daboga, but I haven't tried all of Endangered Species yet.

Lake Champlain makes some interesting bars.

Scharffen Berger is interesting, but a little too acidic for me.

Addington in Huntington Beach, CA deserves an honorable mention for their chocolate lovers toffee.
