Does anyone have any information about the Documentary "Hamburger America" which premeired in Chicago in April? Their site doesn't give any info on where it will be showing (TV theatres etc) or if you can purchase it.

I can give you an update, since I made the film! We are currently seeking a distributor and the Sundance Channel is interested in airing the film in 2005. The World Premiere for Hamburger America will be at the Santa Fe Film Festival, Dec. 1-5, which is also the first public screening. Come on down! Once we get some sort of distribution the film will be for sale for sure. Check the website for updates - we post new stuff once a week. And please patronize all of the restaurants in the film often.

My husband and I ate at the Wheel Inn Drive In in Sedalia MO on on our way to our honeymoon hotel in the Lake of the Ozarks in 1971. I had always wanted to eat there... grew up in KCK and my grandmother lived on a farm outside of Sedalia. Every time we visited, my brother, sister, and I would lobby to eat at the Wheel Inn. We, of course, were never granted that wish. The only time we ever ate anywhere but at a relative's house (had a ton of them in and around Sedalia) was at the MO State Fair held in Sedalia every August. We always took picnics, but could usually talk Mom and Dad into letting us have a corn dog sometime during the 2 days we spent there every year. Ahhh, memories. Didn't have the guberburger on my honeymoon, but I do remember that the food was good (and we were starved after a day of nothing but a bite of wedding cake). arnisarn

Great photos, geomotz! Sadly, I've never been to any of those places. The best burger I have ever had was at Tessaro's in Pittsburgh. It's a neighborhood tavern that grinds their own beef, twice, if I recall correctly. Have you ever been there?

That's a great story - and I'm sure nothing has changed since 1971 at the Wheel Inn. In fact, the man behind the burgers is still there (John). We filmed the Wheel Inn during the State Fair just so we could attend the Fair. We had press passes and filmed a cattle competition that did not make it into the film (look for it on the Special Edition DVD).

I think it missed one of our man criteria for being in the film - all the restaurants in the film have had a burger on the menu for over 40 years... glad you like the photos!

I've had the pleasure of eating a burger at Dyer's. They rank high on my list... Looking forward to seeing the film, Geomotz.
