Hey I live in boston. Where were you looking to put up this hot dog place/cart? If you want to direct it at tourists, then by all means come up with a kitschy name using the word Dog or its derivative. Or some sort of old fashioned name that people expect form a historical city like Boston. However, if you want to direct your business at locals I would stay away from that and use your own name or something simple.

I own and operate a large hot dog cart. The name of my business, "The Grateful Dog" is on a large menu board next to the cart. I sell hot dogs, Polish, sodas, ice tea, and water. I have all the drinks on display on top of the cart. Everything is in plain sight for customers to see as they approach the cart. I still have customers asking what I have to drink and what the dogs cost. My point: few read the menu and no one really cares what I call the cart. I'm referred to as: hot dog man, Chicago Slim, Weenie King, Wiener Boy, and various other names by my regular customers. A clean cart, serving an excellent product, at a fair price, by a happy person with a smile on their face is all that really matters.

            Salvatore,

I agree that the Italian Hot Dog is a Jersey creation, but it originated in the early 1920's in Newark, N.J., not Trenton. In fact, it is often referred to as a Newark Style Hot Dog. And the creator of this sandwich was James Raccioppi, otherwise known as Jimmy Buff. He opened the first store or restaurant selling this sandwich on 9th Ave. in Newark. All Italian Hot Dog restaurants grew out of Jimmy Buff's. They currently have 4 restaurants; in West Orange, Irvington, East Windsor, and Scotch Plains. The original, and to many, the best. My favorite Italian Hot Dog comes from Charlies Famous in Kenilworth, which was originally a Jimmy Buff's. Where did you get your information?

On a recent trip I saw a billboard advertising a place called "Hot Diggity Dog on a Lickity Split Bun". I turned around to go there but it was closed for the season and the place was also for sale.

Well, sounds like most of the good names I thought of were taken. I do hope being in Beantown (I liked the name Beantown Brats) you will be serving the Boston baked Beans as well!!

I live in Athens, Georgia, and down here we have a saying about our local college team. I think it might apply nicely here - "How 'bout them Dogs?" :)
