vegetable snacks

When I was a kid, my grandmother used to munch on "chi-chi" beans (chick peas) and pignolis (pine nuts). I know pignolis are nuts, but were like a form of beans (are nuts like beans? ). Excluding new fangled "crudites" what other vegetables have been snacks for you?

frozen peas..they were like candy to me...cereal bowls filled with creamed corn and butter, raw cucumbers, the core of raw carrots... it seemed sweeter than the rest of the carrot...

Raw cucumbers (peeled, because I DON'T LIKE FIBER), with hot sauce and a little salt sprinkled on them. Sheer heaven. Also in-season tomatoes, provided they're fresh-picked, ideally, with a little homemade mayo for dressing. I like sugar snap peas, too, but the kids always take them all.
