Do you mean existing, operating carts? There are tons in NYC. The best deals are during the day on the northeast and northwest corners of Lexington and, I think, E. 52nd St.: $1.00 ea. The guy on the northeast corner has relish, which few carts do. (I like mine with mustard and relish.) There are a couple of guys on Park Ave. (52nd St.? 53rd?) that sell hot dogs for $1.00. At night there and in other parts of the city at all times, the price is $1.50. Most sell Sabretts, but some sell Hebrew National.

On the other hand, if you are talking about buying your own cart to go into business, All American Hot Dog Carts seems to be THE place to get any kind of cart you could want: http://www.allamericanhotdog.com/

There is a popular hotdog truck that has the best location that I know of. It parks at a road intersection that overlooks the resevoir and "Old Stone Church" in W, Boylston MA. The dogs are very good, and he has been there for many years. Other trucks at other locations come and go in this area.

The old guy in West Boylston has been there for a long time but I dont see anything special about them and he does not offer cheese. I think the fact that he has been there for so long is the reason he does so well. I heard he sells 400 dogs a day. I know the food we sell off our cart is much better but I can only setup part time so that kills us. That may be changing though if they keep yanking us around at work.

tmiles I see you are from Millbury, the guy that sells out of the trailer in front of the hardware store has pretty good food too but it is a toss of a coin rather or not he will be there when you get there. I do know he has closed for the winter though.

ohman, I have eaten there, and I agree that he does a good job. I don't eat a lot of hotdogs anymore, due to the low carb thing. When I cheat, (and I try not to do that more than once a week) I generally go for the ice cream or a breakfast sandwich. When I was off diet over the holidays, I went to Coney Island in Worcester Mass. (see review in the restaurant section). IMO Coney Island does the best job in the area followed by Hotdog Annies, a favorite summer destination of mine when the family was younger and I was not on low carb. Maybe I will change my rankings if I ever visit your cart!!!!

tmiles It looks like I wont be setting my cart up in Ma. anymore. My fulltime job has went sour and it was the only reason I was here anyway. I am going to buy a trailer and move back to the midwest I think and just do what I have wanted to do anyway(sell food fulltime). I am not sure if I will sell the cart or not.

                  Hi all,
I just stopped by Coyboy Bob's today and I must say he is a man of his word. As soon as I mentioned Roadfood.com I was treated to a fine Kunsler dog. Talking with Bob is also a joy, the man seems to have a lot of stories.
I did not partake of the BBQ sandwich but I did overhear comments from some others that it was MyT tasty!
He has even written a book of sorts for anyone that might be interested in setting up a hot dog cart. "The Business of Hot Dog Carts or Every thing you wanted to know but didn't know where to look"
If you are close to the auto auction, buy a dog, buy a car.

Has anyone tried Moes on Grafton St in Worcester Mass? He has been there for some time, and I have been meaning to stop. I thought with winter coming, it was now or next spring. It is Friday, and I usually cheat on the low carb thing on weekends, so I stopped today. I was impressed. For the $3.50 special I got 2 dogs (Wonder split top buns), a can of Coke, and a small bag of Wauchusett chips. The dogs and buns were grilled to order, even though he was busy. The guy works the crowd like a pro as orders move across the grill. A SaniServ certificate is on display along with the various permits that he needs, and he made sure that we knew he would be open all winter. I joked that he could just drive the truck to Florida, but he said that he prefers it here. Time will tell if he does a good winter biz. His (natural casing, I think) dogs are better than Cony Island or Hot Dog Annies, IMO, and that is tough competition. No wonder he is busy.

I am glad to hear Moe is doing well, did he have a large crowd? He did work last winter on Grafton st, is he still there? He was working out of a red and white truck, is he still in it or did he get the other one done? You are right, he knows how to work a crowd.

I thought hot dog annies were decent but I cant tell you why people liked Coney island dos so much, they are tiny and have no flavor but that place has been there for many years. It gets rave reviews but I just dont get it.

For anyone who has spent time in West Boylston, the familiar sight of Bob's Hot Dog truck parked at the split of Rts. 12 and 140 at the reservoir has been a comforting sight, whether you liked Hot Dogs or not. It always made me feel like it was really summer. There was always a line at every lunchtime.

I was just told by a friend that sadly, Hot Dog Bob has passed away at age 69. I don't have any other further information, other than that I heard he had been ill for the past year.

It's a sad day for West Boylston.

Thanks for the post. I wonder if anyone will take his place? I only got there once this past season. I didn't have a clue that it would be my last visit.

I really hate to hear that, I wonder if any of his kids will take it over. I do remember Bob sucking down those cigarettes in that truck though. You are right it is a sad day!!!

The new truck has been done for a month or so. I have only stopped once as he is now in a construction zone. He now has about 3 times the room as in the little truck but everything else remains the same. I should take a picture.
